About Baslow WI
This page of our website is designed to explain who we are and what we do in our WI.
Membership:
We have a membership of 83 women of varying ages and living in towns and villages in Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, not just Baslow! Visitors and new members are welcome. Full membership from April 2023 - March 2024 costs £46 (on a sliding scale through the year for first time members). Members pay £1p.a. for eLink, the Derbyshire WI Monthly Newsletter Activities: We are an extremely busy WI. As well as our monthly meetings and social afternoons we have book, craft, cycling and walking groups, and a monthly lunch club. We arrange regular visits to places of interest, theatres, restaurants and pubs. At monthly meetings:
We have a speaker or demonstration, followed by a tea break and social time. We run a book swap monthly and a bring & buy table four times a year. Money is raised to run our WI. At monthly meetings members sign up for the extra activities we offer. |
Charities:
At Baslow WI we raise money for various charities. At the January 2023 meeting Baslow members voted to donate £1 collected at the sign-in table to local charities for six months at a time.
At our monthly meetings collections are made for The Elm Foundation. All donations are gratefully received but we have a list of suggested donations. (See below to download list.)
In 2023-24 Baslow WI's President's Charity is Bakewell & Eyam Community Transport.
